In the late 1900s, French archa-
eologist Albert Gayet made an
amazing discovery in Antino-
opolis in Middle Egypt: Coptic
mummies, textiles and arti-
facts, which shed an extraordi-
nary light on the early Coptic
civilization. But the mummies
were led to slumber in the Lou-
vre’s vaults.
Now nearly 100 years later, a
study is finally underway and
is revealing how the first Chri-
stians of Egypt lived.

COPTIC MUMMIES OF ANTINOOPOLIS
In the wake of the first papal re-
signation in 600 years, Gianluigi
Nuzzi- the investigative repor-
ter who published the Vatileaks
- examines Benedict XVI’s 8 ye-
ars papacy. He uncovers a con-
troversial pontiff, with a vision
of the church at odds with the
world today but courageous
enough to try and sheds light
on the sexual abuses and the
shady business of the Pope’s
bank.
