MALARIA, HITLER'S SECRET WEAPON

A FILM BY GA&A PRODUCTIONS - PREMIERES ON JULY 9th AT 10PM ON RAI STORIA (CHANNEL 54 DTT), AND WILL REPEAT ON JULY 13th AT 3PM

1944. As combat between Nazi and Allied troops rages, the Pontine Marshes in the Lazio region are devastated by a horrendous malaria epidemic: the most prolific infection in Europe in the 20th century.

The Third Reich provoked the outbreak by flooding a strategically located plain to create mosquito-infested swamplands, creating the only case of biological warfare from the Second World War.

With exclusive archive on the screen for the first time, interviews from historians and experts, the documentary tells the story of the dramatic discovery of “Hitler’s secret weapon”.
