PERSONAL LANDMINES, THE COWARDS’ WAR

In 1997, more than 160 countries signed the Ottawa Treaty, which banned antipersonnel mines. Today, however, conflicts around the world have never been more deadly, and civilians remain the most common victims. Experts estimate that the current Russian-Ukrainian war will pollute ¼ of Ukrainian territory with landmines and cluster bomb remnants. With images taken on the ground in Senegal and Colombia, capturing the daily work and commitment of humanitarian workers, as well as testimony from NGO executives, lobbyists, and international conflict experts, we will examine in depth the true impact of a treaty that 25 years ago represented so much hope.
