FINLAND: THE LONGEST BORDER

Ukraine is only an intermediate stage, declared General Andrey Mordvichev, head of the Russian army, hinting at escalating tensions between Russia and the West. Russia has recently begun a massive military deployment close to the border with Finland. The 1,343 km border that separates Europe from the Russian threat has experienced rising tensions since 2023, following Finland's entry into NATO after nearly 75 years of strict neutrality. That is why the Finnish authorities have sealed off the entire border to protect the population fromPutin's provocations since 2023. This embargo has also jeopardised the history and trade relationships of mixed communities living on both sides of the border. We aim to find the answers to this tense situation through exclusive access to Finnish and NATO military forces and the personal stories of migrants and families living border life daily. Today, Finland is Europe’s ultimate frontier from Russia, holding up the front for the entire continent.
