Coptic Mummies of Antinoopolis

In the late 1900s, French archaeologist Albert Gayet made an amazing discovery in Antinoopolis in Middle Egypt: Coptic mummies, textiles and artefacts, which shed an extraordinary light on the early Coptic civilisation. But the mummies were left to slumber in the Louvre’s vaults. Now nearly 100 years later, a study is finally underway and is revealing how the first Christians of Egypt lived.
