Florentine Football is no spor-
ts for the so hearted. Played
in Florence among rival city
neighborhoods since the 16th
century, it may resemble ru-
gby but unlike it, the only rule
is surviving the game! Banned
for a couple of years, this year’s
competition will be played with
new rules. The film follows four
stories from each team whi-
le tension grows higher as the
competition day approaches.
An intimate portrait of a small
rural community in a part of
Colombia entirely controlled by
paramilitary forces, rendered
through the eyes of the chil-
dren who grow up there, and
are often forced into very diffi-
cult choices. We will follow the
young protagonists in this pro-
blematic setting through an en-
tire school year, exploring some
of the realities that nurture the
violence in Colombia.
