In a war, truth is the first victim. For this very reason, investigative documentaries like this one are incredibly important.
Manel Alías has been a Moscow correspondent for 7 years. He has in-depth knowledge of Russia and Ukraine, and the conflicts that have radicalized both Ukrainian and pro-Russian population in the Donbass region. He was there when the war started and also during the phony referendum Putin called for the annexation of South and South-east Ukraine. The documentary doesn’t give a rigid, official account, but rather focuses on the fear and anguish of the very people involved in a hellish conflict. It shows us the human face of war, from the victory that is waking up alive in the morning, to finding food and shelter to survive.
