YEMEN,
DESPITE THE WAR
In war-torn Yemen there still is a civil society that is
enduring, despite bombs and destruction, violence of
the militias and a devastating humanitarian crisis. Beyond
all that, there are resilient simple men and women who
are carrying out a possible reconstruction, determined
to preserve and foster their original cultural identity. A
teacher, a film director, a journalist, a photographer,
a music student are fighting their silent battle against
obscurantism and the superpowers that are devastating
their country. A very rare testimony from Yemen, where
journalists’ lives are threatened, made possible by the
collaboration of an Italian-Yemeni war reporter and 3
crews of local filmmakers.

WHAT REMAINS OF
ME
SURVIVED
BOKO HARAM
When 276 female students were kidnapped in
the north of Nigeria, in 2014, the world suddenly
became aware of the danger that Boko Haram
poses. What remains of me is the story of a group
of women and girls who survived and escaped
Boko Haram’s atrocities. Little is knows of the
traumas these women endure, the challenge of
reintegration, their struggle with the mental health
problems these events caused, but also their
resilience. Filmaker Marta Santamato Cosentino
dared enter the red zones on her own and spent
time with these women, giving them time to open
up to her and her camera. What remains of me
has a very intimate, close approach that gives
unfiltered voice to the survivors themselves.

Charleroi, a small town close to Brussels, can be taken as a
symbol of the problems affecting today’s Europe. With the
collapse of manufacturing industry, the rising unemployment,
the increasing immigration and the lack of a shared identity,
today’s social unease reflects on the lives of the citizens
and the physical environment they live in.
One day in 1985, Irmela Mensah-Schramm
noticed a racist sticker on a wall and scratched it off.
Since then, her daily mission is to delete any trace of
nazi, racist or homophobic propaganda from the walls
of Berlin. German neo-Nazis wants to see her dead,
while supporters all over Europe admire the bravery of
the clumsy, 65 years old woman. Why did she embark
on this risky struggle? This is the story of a stubborn, single
woman, but it is also the story of how the simple act of saying
“no” can still be revolutionary in today’s increasingly intolerant
Europe.
The development of Camorra in Naples has shaped the
way the city evolved. From the simple smuggling of its
beginnings to organized, powerful unified clans, Camorra
has developed its own military power. Through the usage
of vintage films and original newscasts, Camorra is a
visceral, film-like report of the true face of one of the
most powerful mafia organization.
